Underground Pedestrian Walkway Toronto

Today we investigated Toronto’s underground pedestrian walkway. It enables people to move around the downtown shopping and financial centre of Toronto without having to go outside. Obviously they need this because more than half the year they are in winter and often with rainy and snowy weather.

Because it is gay pride month lots of shops are displaying rainbow colours.

We used the underground walkway to get to the Cloud Gardens Conservatory.

It is a range of glasshouses filled with plants from different zones.

They had many turtles near their waterfall. I heard a conversation between two workers about how many turtles, who people took as pets when they were small, are abandoned when they get too big. Or because they can live for forty years many are abandoned when people tire of them.

It is amazing what you will see in greenhouses over here!

They had a wonderful range of succulents and cacti.

Some of these plants must be quite old.

The dog park near the conservatory was watched over by a very large blue dog. Many people in the appartments around here own dogs and need somewhere for them to run especially in winter.

We walked back through the underground walkway.

I noticed this shop on our way back.

We will be heading from Toronto to Jasper tomorrow and out of reach of wifi for a few days so I will not be posting much until we reach Jasper.
