Training across Canada

Today we started our longest train trip. It will be 3 days till we reach Jasper 6.30 am on Saturday the 15th of June. We were up early as we had to be at the station by 8.00am to catch the 9.10am train. After settling in we went for brunch.

There is so much water everywhere.

We went to the dome car to hear a talk about how the train works and and what we might see.

There are times when our train will be shunted onto a side track to let the freight trains through. They have right of way as their company owns the track. The freight trains can have up to 200 cars.

Our train only has 21 cars.

We stopped briefly for a 15 minute walk at a small town so the train could be refueled.

You can see a beaver lodge across the water. It looks like a large pile of randomly stacked logs and branches. I saw a beaver but was not quick enough to tell anyone else so it’s only my word!

There is water everywhere!

And trees everywhere!

I also saw a moose a long way across one of the lakes. Again no one else saw it!
