Never visit Montréal on a Monday!

The day started off well getting up early to have early 6.30 breakfast in the dining car. Then we retreated for a couple of hours to the dome car. The arrival in Montréal was smooth and we walked the couple of blocks to the information centre and then onto our hotel.

We left our main bags there and went back to the information centre to buy a museum pass and transport pass for the next couple of days. We also asked about Leonard Cohen and she directed us to his mural just a few blocks away.

She told us that the museums were closed today as it is a Monday. Luckily we were able to get our room early and after settling in we decided to visit the old town and see two places there that said they were open everyday. After walking all the way down we found that it was false advertising. Both were closed.

This was the entertainment area along the river. Aimee would have loved all the ropes and the zipline.

This was the chapel that Leonard Cohen refers to in one of his songs.

But it was closed!

The black and white flags are for the Canadian Grand Prix which is happening just after we leave. We walked through part of the old town and it seemed very quiet.

It was very cold and windy. I had a scarf and gloves and even Don had a scarf on. My feet were sore from all the walking and we didn’t get to see what we were hoping for. Because we hadn’t yet worked out the transport system we had to walk all the way back to the hotel. Then I collapsed on the bed for a while. Later we went to an Indian Restaurant for dinner.
