Eight o’clock we were down at the docks ready to set off on Prince Rupert Adventure Tours. We dressed for cold, wet weather as Prince Rupert measures rain in feet rather than inches. The cruise was to the famous Khutzeymateen “Valley of the Grizzly”.
After the safety talk we heard the “how to be quiet near the grizzly bears talk”.
The bears don’t mind the boat noise but can be frightened by human noise. We saw in total 13 grizzly bears in along the coast. I took lots of photos but at the end the tour the captain airdropped photos he took and they were so much better than mine so those are ones I’ll show. This bear was eating mussel shells attached to a log.
Everyone would race to the front or side to see the bears.
This mother bear has triplets. Not all cubs survive as the male bears often try to kill them.
On the way back we saw seals and 3 humpback whales.
The trip was 8 hours long and we had a light lunch provided. This is a picture of “Indian Rock”. Can you see the face?
Near the end of the trip they throw fat from the butcher into the water for the sea eagles. These are my photos.
They came swooping down to grab the food from the water.
