Surrounded by mountains

We were up early ready to be off the train by 6.30. I went up the dome car to see the morning views. From the back was the rising sun and fog.

Not long later I could see the approaching mountains. We were told that the train was running 2 hours late.

The views kept getting better.

We had breakfast and waited while the mountains came closer and closer.

Finally it was time to say our goodbyes and leave the train at Jasper. I liked this poster.

We are staying at Tekarra Lodge about 1 k out of Jasper.

This will be our home for the next couple of days. After settling in we did our washing!

Some of the local wildlife wandered through. This is an elk.

We sat outside to have some lunch and saw this squirrel.

Tekarra looks over the joining of two rivers. You can see the two different colours and where they meet.

This the view from near the front of our cabin.

In the evening we toasted marshmallows and they were turned into s’mores. Toasted marshmallows and chocolate buttons between two salada type biscuits!

We also had an interpretive talk about the local wildlife and a couple of songs from one of the staff.

We went for a walk to Old Fort but did not go up to the top as it was getting too late.

We sat and talked history and politics with two Americans who are staying here and watched the sun go down and the moon come up.
