The Medicine man wore these items. The “crowns” are made of bear claws.
A chief wore these items. What look like buttons hanging down are actually puffin beaks.
As well as the history of the tribes that lived around the Prince Rupert area there was information about the Grand Trunk Line and how the trains actually finally reached Prince Rupert.
Next we caught a bus out to one of the planned hiking trails. We walked out to see the Butze Rapids. There were warnings about wolves but all we saw was a squirrel.
This plant was in all the damp places and Don said it looked like giant bokchoi. We found out late in the walk that it is called skunk cabbage! Perhaps it smells bad. We did not get close enough to notice.
This is the Butze Rapids but as the tide was out it did not seem very rapid.
We walked onto to see Grassy Bay which had lots rocks covered with seaweed.
We saw very tall Red Cedar trees and the remains of very large trees.
We had to wait half a hour for the bus to come back on its way into town. Thene walked down to Cow Bay to get another coffee.
