Voting, washing and walking.

ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS I NOTICED was the forest of TV antennas on each building.

So much for random observations; we had things planned to do today.

First we had to vote at the Australian Embassy. Quick bus ride from the main terminus. We met David Stratton outside. He was waiting for a taxi on his way to the Venice Film Festival. We also met an ex Spensley Street Teacher and an ex Spensley Street student. Amazing!!

Next was the washing -- I know, easy to amuse Don -- a visit to a local basilica and after a leisurely drink at a local cafe in the local piazza. And we were appropriately late for the start of our Italian tour.

Mario and Gianni took us to some famous fountains where the aqueducts finish and provide water for people.

This is the famous Trevi fountain, named because three roads meet at that spot.

I bought a little present for my students with Gianni's help.

This is the Pantheon, which was built by the Romans and is still standing and used as a church today.

It has an oculus, or eye, in the ceiling. When the rain falls it is drained away through the floor.

This is another square and fountain.

Mario telling us about the fountain, which includes references to the four continents known at that time.

Street performers ...

We had a meal at a famous piazza or square called Campo de' Fiori.
