Giverny and the public holiday

WE HAD A SLOW START, EASING SUE'S FOOT into the day by making plans beyond Paris, doing a little shopping and seeking café avec soja.
In the afternoon we took a little minibus trip to Giverny, the village just in Normandy, where Monet spent his later years and painted his waterlily, or nymph, pictures.

The reflective qualities of his lily pond were amazing.

Along with many other people, this being a bank holiday, we wandered around Monet's garden.

It was peaceful and you could see what had inspired his later paintings.

His home held paintings by his friends such as Renoir as well as quite a few of his own works and many Japanese prints, which were a considerable interest.

His garden is beautiful- bright colours and a wonderful mixture of flowering plants. This view was from his bedroom.

Tourist exploitation rating 7.8, but fun nonetheless.
