Chateaus and charming Australian/New Zealanders

AFTER A TAXI RIDE UP THE CHAMPS ELYSEES we met up with our Back Roads tour group, made up entirely of antipodeans. Led by an Italian living in England and driving a Mercedes bus, we set off for Fountainebleu - a hunting chateau of kings and Emperor Napoleon.

We visited Beauchance and strolled around the village. The bridge is known as the Devil's Bridge.




This church is where Philip and Eleanor of Aquitaine were granted a divorce so they could marry other people ... ie Henry ll of Angleterre.








We are staying at the Bordaisiere Chateau, in Montlouis, for two nights. Large rooms carved out of the attic in the side building.

This chateau has a garden with 550 varieties of tomatoes. We mean to sample at least 5.
