Escaping from pomp and circumstance

MORE FROM VERSAILLES. Louis XIV built the Grand Trianon to escape the court and to carry on a love affair. It was a small palace of pink marble with lovely gardens.

Once again marble, gilt and fine paintings.

King Louis XV built the Petite Trianon for Madame De Pompadour.

It became Marie-Antoinette's favourite place to stay.

However, being a simple country girl, she also had a little hamlet built so she could have vegetable gardens and chooks.

Not sure of backstory, but there is also a temple of love.

This swan took a liking to Don's shoes!

That's Episode 2 folks!
