Yarn bombed Llwyngwril

An early morning for me as my body tried to make sense of the time change. Aneirin and Rachel were already up at 5ish so I joined them around 6.00am. Don slept in till 7.00am. Lowri wore the pj’s we brought her from Canada.

After breakfast we went on a yarn bombing tour of Llwyngwril. First we walked over the bridge to get a map from the shop. This giant had been knitted by Karen.

Someone had knitted a picture of all the local dogs in Llwyngwril. One of them must be Fion, Karen and Kevin’s dog.

Next we saw the cafe which is only open briefly.

The theme this year was all about activities that take place in Llwyngwril. One of the community fun days is the duck race. People buy a numbered rubber duck all of which are all thrown into the creek running through the township. The winner is the owner of the duck that reaches the finishing post first.

The local railway station had a number of knitted displays.

As well as big pieces there were creatures, insects and animals hidden amongst the trees and bushes along the way.

Fairies

Birds

Lady bugs

snails and one of Lowri’s favourite a unicorn!

This map of the township is on the old school house next door to Karen and Kevin’s place.

Lastly down by the beach was the biggest set of yarn bombing. The theme here was the beach at Llwyngwril but I’m sure I saw clown fish!
