The castle is impressive and the town is all around it. Many homes and shops are built up to the castle walls.
When we arrived it was time for lunch. We had a lovely meal at a small restaurant run by Karen and Kevin Jones!
The glass balcony is where the Queen and Prince Charles stood and waved to the crowd after he was created the Prince Of Wales.
Once we were inside people went in different directions. Rachel and Lowri set off to find dragons. Emma rocked Aneirin to sleep, while Don and I wandered the castle.
We climbed narrow towers holding onto the rope banisters and carefully made our way down again. See Lowri and Rachel far below.
War broke out in 1282 and after the English won they built new castles. Edward the first built the castle at Caernarfon. After he built it he made sure his son was born there and he appointed him the first Prince of Wales before he could even speak.
The investiture of Edward VIII as Prince of Wales when he was 16 in 1911 was a made up occasion to placate the people. Prince Charles went through a similar procedure in the 1960’s.
Castles and ice cream go hand in hand so Lowri says so we found an ice cream shop!
Everyone had an ice cream except Aneirin.
