Up the hill and off to Callander

We had a slow start to the day and did the washing and put it out while Aneirin had his first nap. Rachel, Don, Lowri, Aneirin and I set off up the hill at the back of the farm. We saw many black-faced sheep and lambs.

We saw the national flower of Scotland the thistle.

Many hill walkers go up through the farm past where we are staying. We walked quite a way up the closest hill and celebrated when we touched the gate.

This is the view of the Loch and the big house which is near our house.

After our walk we headed into Callander to have lunch and shop. Emma said I should take photos of this shop!

We visited 3 op-shops and a Tesco supermarket. There were lots of interesting little shops to investigate, even one with a cat.

Of course we needed to find a playground for Lowri and Aneirin.

Then we were back at the house for a lovely ravioli meal and salad prepared by Rachel.

I think we should come to this restaurant again.

This is outside our house.

After dinner we went for a walk up to the walled garden nearby. It is the vegetable and fruit garden for the big house. We decided to peek in as the door was not locked and the owner, Sandy, let us have a look around.

It had salvia, the popping plant, delphiniums and many other flowering plants. The vegetables growing were broad beans, carrots, potatoes, salad greens and parsnips. We walked around the farm and could see the big house much closer.

As we walked back to our house we saw the wonky shed. Don and Lowri tried to fix it up.

Thanks to Rachel for most of the photos today.
