Sorrento at dawn was a beautiful sight.
We had an early start to the day to avoid the big bus tours. However our noble tour leaders had to rush Marilyn to the hospital at 4 in the morning, as she had reacted badly to some antibiotics, so Mario and Gianni had been up for 4 hours by the time we started.
Marilyn telling us her experiences ...
... While others just kept breakfasting ...
The countryside rushed by as Gianni and Mario drove during the day. We crossed the Apennine mountains which run down the centre of the country.
We stopped a couple of times for refreshment breaks.
Finally we reached Pesaro and our hotel.
After a rest we had a walk through the old town. Although at this time of the year, Pesaro is a holiday beach resort, it also has good bookshops, the Rossini opera house and plenty more. This statue by Pomodoro -- we've seen others in his series in Rome, Dublin and Melbourne -- is the the beach end of main promenade through the town.
This is some of the beach -- most is run by operators who rent spots, including umbrellas and sun beds, to the beach visitor.
This olive tree is 200 years old.
A memorial plaque to the many innocent women and children who were killed by the Germans as they retreated during the second world war.
Having our aperativo before dinner.
And sorting out Marilyn's medication.
- Posted before dinner the next day
