Llwyngwril to London

Kevin woke still feeling seedy but pushed on with his day.

Lowri slept in!! A sign that she was not quite over the virus.

With a fond farewell we set off for London.

Our trip was mainly uneventful. The Satnav stopped working for a while which caused a bit of tension and we delivered the car back a little late because we got a bit a lost around Heathrow. We walked about 3K  back to the hotel.

The last update from Llwyngwril reported that Karen was the last person standing. Somehow she had avoided the virus. So the illness total was - 2 children and 5 adults!

How contagious is a Nor virus?

During the night I joined the roll call of the sickies. A few days ago Rachel had bought and payed for tickets for us all to go up Mount Snowdon and they were not refundable!! But as we were about to leave Don felt seedy and decided it would be best if he stayed home. We pushed on.

We went to the top of Mount Snowdon in a small train.

From the top you can see across Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England.

Emma and I climbed the last few feet to the very top.

The trip up to the top and back took 2 hours. Those who felt up to it had lunch!

When we got back to Llwyngwril we found Don in bed having been sick all day. I was exhausted so I also retired to bed. At this point Kevin is also feeling seedy!! At last count we were up to 1 child and 5 adults affected. I wonder if Karen will be next?

Playgrounds, Tywyn and feeling ill.

The day began with Emma not feeling well and spending time at home in bed. We took the kids down to the playground after breakfast.

We decided some shopping was needed for Don to cook dinner so visited Tywyn a seaside township on Cardigan bay.

Rachel beat Don and Lowri at a game of crazy mini golf.

We had a late lunch in Tywyn.

On our return home Emma felt better but the Rachel felt sick and retired to bed.

After Don’s roast dinner (without Emma and Rachel) Don and I went for an evening walk through Llwyngwril. On our return Lowri who, had gone to bed, threw up and had to be showered. Poor Karen and Kevin decided to sleep downstairs to let Rachel sleep in their bed.
Who knows what will happen next?

Depressed yet enjoying Wales

We woke up full of expectations about the Australian elections and organised to see Leigh Sales and team relaying the results on the TV. Unfortunately it did not play out as we expected!!! We set off by train to see the seaside town of Barmouth.

We got off at Morfa Mawddach and walked across the Barmouth bridge encountering about 20 older bikies on the way.

We were on a mission to help Don replace the thongs that he had bought there 6 years ago. After coffee, shopping, fish and chips and ice cream we returned to Llwyngwril by train.

It is spring and everything looks green. This is the small stream that runs down to the beach.

The garden out the back is full of plants flowering, birds singing and insects buzzing around. There is a badger that frequents the end of the garden but it is rarely seen.

Day 2 Sleep!! Beach!!

Strange sleeping patterns with Lowri waking at 2.00am Llwyngwril time. This is the view up the main road of Llwyngwril.

We walked up the road to visit the one shop.  Kevin and Karen’s house is called Sue and Don!

After an afternoon sleep we wandered down the lane to the beach. On the way Lowri found a hidden painted rock to take home and then rehide.

At the beach we found many more rocks!

Melbourne to Llwyngwril via Doha

The first very long day of our trip.

Waiting, waiting, waiting at Doha airport! Lowri wrote and drew about her experiences on the plane.

Rachel charged up various electrical items.

Don has big cuddles with Aneirin.

At Llwyngwril at last. Aneirin was meeting Karen and Kevin (his Welsh grandparents) at last.
