Kata Beach

Don and I went down for coffees, shopping, and to see the tailor. Don decided that he would have 3 shirts and two pairs of trousers made up so he had measurements taken. I saw this in one of the street side restaurants.

When we returned from shopping we joined Jim and Di in the pool to cool off. Then we rang our taxi man and organised to go to Kata beach.

We hired lounge seats under umbrellas. We spent most of the afternoon there.

As usual Don checked out the water.

There were signs showing the dangerous rip and telling people not to swim there.

It didn’t seem to make much diffference as there were many people out in the water.

After dipping in the water we lay around and read till late.

They take the tusiami warnings seriously with loud speakers ready to put into action.

On our way home we stopped at a view point called Karon which looked down across the coves, beaches and islands. The rain was coming in fast.

We had another dip in our pool to wash off the sand and salt and arranged to meet our taxi guy so he could drive us to a restaurant for dinner.

It was called After the Beach and it was a Regga restaurant. I had a Thai dish which was fried rice with seafood served up in a pineapple.

We were right on the edge of a cliff and the view from the balcony was of lights from the resorts around and the fisherfolk out at sea.
